The El Campanil Theatre Preservation Foundation is attempting to save their stage and will host a community conversation on September 1, at 7:00 pm.

El Campanil Theatre belongs in the heart of this community and we know many of you have questions about what comes next.
We invite our patrons, supporters, artists, renters, business owners, and neighbors to join us for a short community gathering at the theatre.

Currently, the El Campanil Theatre Preservation Foundation is a tenant of the theatre property, which is owned by an out-of-state landlord. They said if the church purchases the building that it is unlikely that they would be able to continue to provide theatre programming at El Campanil Theatre if they acquire the space — next year, the theatre turns 100. They are asking the community to come together to help maintain their mission in the space.
The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 1 at 7:00 pm at the El Campanil Theatre, located at 602 W 2nd St, Antioch, CA.
Over the past two years, current city councilmembers Don Freitas, Tamisha Torres-Walker and Monica Wilson have all brought up the El Campanil Theatre and attempting to find a solution, but nothing publicly has been placed on an agenda. The building is listed for sale online at $1.5 million.
