Dense Fog Advisory Issued For Most of Contra Costa County

The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog warning through parts of the San Francisco Bay Area and included most of Contra Costa County. Drivers should give themselves extra time in these conditions.

The Tule fog is moving westward from the Central Valley into the East Bay Valleys and over the waters of the Delta. The dense fog advisory was issued Wednesday night and is expected to last through 11:00 am Thursday with visibility expected to be just ¼ mile to ½ mile or less along with abrupt changes in visibility.

DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM PST THURSDAY…

  • WHAT…Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • WHERE…East Bay Interior Valleys.
  • WHEN…Until 11 AM PST Thursday.
  • IMPACTS…Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

  • If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution as visibilities may widely vary over short distances. Use low beam headlights and leave extra distance between your vehicle and others on the road when encountering significant reductions in visibility. Allow extra time to travel to destinations.
