Antioch Man Arrested by BART Police After iPad Theft Attempt

The Bay Area Rapid Transit Police announced an Antioch man is in custody after attempting to steal an iPad from a rider and attempted to run away.

According to police, at 4:40pm today BART officers boarded a Richmond bound train at West Oakland right as Gabriel Eakin (7/17/2002, Antioch) fled off the train and out the station. The officers caught him.

While he was trying to run away he discarded a backpack with an unregistered loaded firearm that was modified to be fired fully automatic with a high capacity magazine.

Turns out he had tried to steal someone’s iPad unsuccessfully and then ran off.

Eakin was booked into Alameda County jail in Dublin. He was issued a prohibition order banning him from returning to BART.

Put him in prison until he’s to old to do harm. Simple Solution to rising crime.
