On Tuesday, Antioch Police Chief Steve Ford will present its 2022 annual update and statistics to the Antioch City Council.
The presentation will be before the council discusses the idea of providing itself with power to hire and fire the police chief—something which is currently the responsibility of the city manager (see agenda item preview here).
The following Antioch Police crime statistics based off the slides in the presentation included in the staff report.
According to the data, Part 1 crime has increased by 9.5% between 2021-22 with an increase in of 286 crimes—including 9.9% increase in robbery, 28.1% increase in burglary, 7.5% increase in theft and 17.8% increase in auto theft. However, total violent crime was reduced by 4%.
Antioch Police also reported 212 total aggravated assaults with a firearm (down from 240 the year before). Police also recovered 184 total firearms (including 46 ghost guns). In 2021, with additional staffing and more proactive enforcement, police recovered 308 total firearms (including 102 ghost guns).

Police Response Times
For 2022, the average response time from the time of call was received to an Antioch Police officer arrival for Priority 1 calls was 10:33 minutes. In 2021, it was 8:49 minutes and in 2020 it was 7:36 minutes.
