Firefighters Knock Down Storage Unit Fire Near Orwood Resort

Just before 11:00 am Saturday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 4400 block of Orwood Road near the Orwood Resort in unincorporated Brentwood.

While responding, CONFIRE stated they saw black smoke coming from multiple storage units where it appears the fire had started—including the possibly of from an AC unit, it was also possible the fire was coming from an office space.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported several storage units on fire, however, no buildings or nearby structures were threatened in the blaze with heavy smoke coming from at multiple storage units with a concern for boat fuels and other flammable items inside the units.

By 11:18 am, the fire was under control and no injuries were reported. In total, five units were on fire with a total of 18 units holding boats and other equipment were impacted as firefighters checked for extensions.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
