HAZMAT Response Closes Martinez Amtrak Station

At 3:04 pm Monday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a hazmat investigation at 601 Marina Vista in the City of Martinez.

It was reported that the spill was believed to be Mercury.

As of 5:39 pm Monday, Contra Costa County Health issued the following statement:

CCH’s HazMat team is responding to a reported hazardous materials spill at the Martinez train station. The train station is closed. Passengers will board and disembark at Ferry Street.

6:55 pm UPDATE

UPDATE: Contra Costa Health confirmed mercury was found in the parking lot outside the Amtrak train station in Martinez. CCH has no information that anyone has been harmed. HazMat crews are still on scene
