Contra Costa Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Antioch Warehouse Fire

As 12:35 am Saturday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vacant warehouse fire in the City of Antioch. This is at least the third known time in 2023 crews have responded to this building.

Crews responded to W 2nd and L Street behind the Antioch Police Department where they located the fire. The fire was located in a section of the warehouse that Contra Costa County firefighters had previously responded to in October on two occasions. There was heavy fire to the roof and it appeared the building was occupied by homeless.

Around 2:20 am, CONFIRE announced firefighter search teams identified and removed two occupants and animal uninjured, secondary search was clear, and that the fire was out. Crews will be on scene in overhaul, continue to avoid area.

Contra Costa Fire was on scene for approximately 2-hours and 20-minutes.

It is not clear what the City of Antioch is proactively doing to prevent homeless from continuing to occupy vacant warehouses and starting fires as firefighters have responded to around a dozen Antioch warehouse fires in 2023 alone.

Tear them down before a firefighter gets hurt or dies. Find the owners and bulldoze.

Nothing fishy about this at all.

Why doesn't the city take any action to abate public nuisance properties? Oh, right - it's Antioch.
