On Wednesday, the Antioch Police Department announced the arrest of two people in conneciton with a January 23 homicide in the City of Antioch.
According to police, through the investigation, detectives learned that Lonnie Decker and Steven Kelly were responsible for the senseless killing of Roberto Gonzalez Lamas, 41-years-old, and the attempted murder of a 59-year-old male on Bryan Avenue.
On 02/07/2024, the US Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended Lonnie Decker in the City of Pioneer, CA. On 02/12/2024, Steven Kelly was located and apprehended by Antioch Police patrol officers in the City of Pittsburg. Both Decker and Kelly were booked into the Martinez Detection Facility on the charges of Murder and Attempted Murder along with additional parole violations.

The Antioch Police Department would like to thank US Marshals, Amador County Sheriff’s Office, and the community at large for providing the Antioch Police Department with helpful information that quickly and safely led to the arrests of Decker and Kelly. This case has been presented to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office and has charged both Decker and Kelly with homicide.

Jan 24 – One Dead, Another Wounded in Shootout in Antioch
A Tuesday night shooting in Antioch as left 1 person dead and another in critical condition according to Antioch Police.
On January 23, 2024, at approximately 10:53 pm the Antioch Dispatch center began receiving multiple calls of shots fired with a subject injured in the unit block of Bryan Avenue. Officers arrived and located two victims, a 41-year-old male and a 59-year-old male, both from Antioch each with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers rendered first aid to both victims. Contra Costa Fire Department and Paramedics arrived a short time later and transported both victims to local hospitals.
The 41-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased. The second victim has life threatening injuries. Antioch Police Detectives were notified and have taken over the investigation.
Antioch Police said they are withholding the names of the victims until proper family notifications have been made. No further information will be provided at this time.
This is now the second Antioch homicide of 2024 for the City of Antioch. This is also the fourth known shooting in the City of Antioch since January 15. On Friday, a male was shot at on Mark Twain Drive while on Thursday, a male was shot in the shoulder on Devpar at Sunset. No other updates have been provided on any of those shootings.
