Tri Delta Transit to Host a FREE Shred It Event

The Tri Delta Transit community Shred It Event is in partnership with the City of Oakley, City of Antioch, Mt. Diablo Resource and Recovery, and Republic Services.

The event starts at 9:00 am and goes until the trucks are full or Noon, whichever comes first. First come, first serve and be aware that if you come later, the truck may be gone already.

Participants MUST take out any binders, hard folders, large binder clips, the ring plastic bindings, large paperclips – and if possible all paperclips. Staples can be run through the shredder.

Staff and Shred-It staff will be checking boxes. If items are not removed, you may be asked to get out of line, take off all the items and then wait again at the back of the line.

Come to our DRIVE-THRU event!

Don’t have a car? Walk or ride your bicycle with your shredding and see a helper when you arrive. They will provide instructions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. If I live outside of Oakley, can I come to the Shred-It event?
Tri Delta Transit serves Bay Point, Antioch, Brentwood, Pittsburg, Discovery Bay, Knighten, and Oakley, so shredding is accepted from those cities.

2. Is there a limit to the number of bags/boxes I can bring?
On average we accept 5-7 boxes, but quantity is somewhat dependent on number attending. Please be mindful that we are trying to help as many as we can in the community. We will try our best to accommodate shredding amounts. This year we will have a large amount truck and a regular amount truck. If there are no large amounts at times, then both trucks will take regular amounts.

3. Is parking available?
This year is a DRIVE-THRU event! When you come to the Oakley Park & Ride at 4300 Main Street, Oakley, please enter the Park & Ride by the driveway by the intersection of East and West Cypress (see map). Follow the cones to get in line. If the line is longer, if possible we ask you to turn off-and-on your car as to not idle, which is bad for the environment. The line will advance until you are stopped by the Shred-It Truck. Turn off your car, exit, get your shredding out, and show it to our helpers. They will clear you to put it into the shredding bin for Shred-It staff to load it into the truck. If you need assistance, you will need to guide the helpers to exactly what needs to be taken out of your vehicle. They will not touch anything that you do not indicate or hand them.

4. Will there be someone there to help me?
We have some staff on hand to help.

5. If I have too much, can I leave it in my car and stand in line.
Yes. When you get near the front of the line, please notify us whether you have a large or regular shredding load. We will direct you where to go.

6. Is a mask required?
The event is outdoors. Masks are not required but you can wear one if you would like.

In fairness 75% of the people in Antioch don't work so they will be able to attend this time frame.

Will the shredder fit the whole entire city of Antioch?
