Contra Costa County Firefighters Battle Multiple Vegetation Fires

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters were busy Thursday afternoon having battled three major fires.

Here is a rundown of today’s vegetation fires which are still under investigation and no injuries were reported:

Concord, CA fire

2:56 pm – 4900 block Concord Blvd, Concord

This fire shot a huge cloud of smoke in the air that was picked up on the Mt. Diablo camera with crews responding and making a quick fire attack within the City of Concord. Its estimate the fire was anyone between 1-acre to 3-acres in size. Crews did have access issues due to hose lengths and vehicle available to hit the terrain. At least one home was evacuated as a precaution.  No other details have been released

3:49 pm – 1600 block Slatten Ranch Rd, Antioch

This fire started along the train tracks near the eBART at approximately 1/8 of an acre when the first crew arrived on scene, but due to afternoon wind is spread to a 2-alarm response and ultimately hit 20-acres within the City of Antioch. A sheriff helicopter was on scene providing water drops while crew 12 was on scene working the vegetation. The fire was contained, however, crews were dealing with not only vegetation, but homeless in the area, out buildings, equipment, PVC pipes and other miscellaneous items that burned. 4:33 pm – 1 Marina Plaza, Antioch CA

This fire began as a smoke investigation but quickly was determined to be a working vegetation fire with fire located in the Marsh Area behind the Marina. The fire moved to a 2-alarm response with structure protection and included water drops from the sheriffs office — this helicopter was pulled from the Slatten Ranch incident above. The fire was limited to 5-acres.
