July 4 Events in Contra Costa County and Beyond

Here is a look at the upcoming July 4 events and celebrations around Contra Costa County. As well as a few events outside of the area to enjoy which include fireworks—even drone shows. Will continue to update as more events are announced

City of Antioch

  • 6:00 pm – (UPDATE – PARADE CANCELLED, BUT ALL OTHER EVENTS TO CONTINUE) Join the City of Antioch in celebrating Independence Day in our historic Rivertown. Set up along W 2nd St. and W 3rd St. before 4:00pm to watch our annual 4th of July Parade pass by. Visit Waldie Plaza to experience live entertainment and enjoy local food vendors and trucks. Have an exciting time with friends and family in the Games Zone located at City Hall, before picking your spot to see the big firework show. This year’s event features a Dunk Tank Fundraiser in our Games Zone. For more information, click here
  • 9:00 pm – Fireworks downtown (dusk)

City of Brentwood

  • 7:30 am: Liberty High School Band 5k.  The Liberty High School Band is excited to host this event as it will directly benefit the marching band, jazz band, concert programs, winter percussion and winter guard programs. the race will begin at Veterans Park (3841 Balfour R) and participants will run on the Marsh creek Trail through Creekside Park and beyond for an out and back.   • 9:30 am: The parade will begin at 9:30am with the return of the popular Children’s Parade, followed immediately by the main parade.  Pre-registration is not required for the Children’s Parade. Children may dress up and use bicycles, roller skates, non-motorized scooters, wagons, strollers, small battery motorized play vehicles. Be creative! Line begins at 1st and Birch. The main parade will begin immediately following the Children’s Parade, traveling from the corner of 1st and Birch, turning right on Oak Street, and ending in front of the Community Center.

City of Clayton

  • 10:00 am: Join the City of Clayton as they host its annual 4th of July Parade. This year’s theme is “Celebrating 60 Years of Community” in honor of Clayton’s 60thAnniversary as a city. Don’t miss the chance to showcase your creativity, patriotism, and community spirit by participating in the parade! For more information, click here

City of Concord

Join the City of Concord as it hosts its 4th of July Celebration with a variety of events from a 5k Run & Walk, parade and festival later in the day at Mt Diablo High School which includes music and fireworks.

Events at Mt. Diablo High School

  • 4:00 PM : Festival Gates Open
  • 7:30 PM : The Purple Ones, an Insatiable Tribute to Prince
  • 9:00 PM : Fireworks over Concord

Town of Danville

  • 9:00 am: The Kiwanis-Danville Parade will take place on Thursday, July 4th, 2024 from 9am-noon in downtown Danville, California. This year’s parade theme is Celebrating Businesses of the San Ramon Valley.  Our Grand Marshal in 2024 is Marcia Harmon, owner of Cottage Jewel in Danville. The Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley has organized and conducted the annual Kiwanis 4th of July Parade in partnership with the Town of Danville since 1975. The parade attracts 30,000-40,000 spectators each year and is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate America’s birth. For more information, click here

City of El Cerrito

  • The annual City of El Cerrito/worldOne July 4th Festival provides the chance to celebrate amongst high-flying banners, world-class music, food, friends, rides, bounce houses, community groups, vendors and more. City of Hercules

Join Herculeans for the 4th of July 5k run. Enjoy food, information, entertainment and plenty of food at our Expo. After the run make sure to stay at Refugio Valley Park and watch the popular 4th of July Parade! All of this will take place at Refugio Valley Park! Expo opens at 7:00 a.m., race starts at 8:30 a.m. and parade will begin around 11:00 a.m.

  • 7:00 am – Expo opens

City of Martinez

  • 10:00 am:  Join us for a patriotic extravaganza at the Annual Downtown Martinez 4th of July Parade, proudly presented by Martinez Refining Company. It’s time to paint Main Street red, white, and blue as over 40 spirited entries march down the heart of downtown Martinez in a dazzling display of community pride and celebration. Bring the kids, grandparents, and friends. The Annual Downtown Martinez 4th of July Parade is a time-honored tradition perfect for the whole family!  Wear your red, white, and blue, and join us for a memorable Independence Day in downtown Martinez!
  • TBA: Flag Raising Ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Building (Time to be announced) | Parade starts at 10 am. Parade route begins at Court St. & Main St. Ends at Alhambra Ave. & Main St.

Town of Moraga

Join the Town of Moraga for its July 4 celebration which includes a dog parade, community booths, jumpies, food, wine and beer booths along with family activities. Followed by music and a fireworks show. Here is the rundown:

  • 11:00 am – Dog Parade
  • 11:00 am – Community Booths & Jumpies
  • 12:00 pm – Family Activities (live entertainment, games, Pop by Twon Sports Experience)
  • 6:45 pm – national Anthem & Mayor’s Welcome
  • 7:00 pm – House Rockers (concert)
  • 9:30 pm – Fireworks Spectacular (start time is estimated

Join the Orinda Association for a variety of events including a fun run, pancake breakfast, music in the park and food trucks and beer booths on site. The schedule of events include:

  • 7:30 am – Burrito Breakfast

  • 10:00 am – Parade
  • 11:30 am – Music in the Park

City of Pinole

  • 6:30 pm – Join the City of Pinole for the 4th of July Celebration from 6:30 – 9:30pm at Pinole Valley High School. There will be live music, food vendors, children’s activities, a community parade, and a drone show at sundown! For more information, click here

  • 9:00 pm: Join the City of Pittsburg for our annual July 4th Fireworks Show at the Marina

City of Pleasant Hill

Join the City of Pleasant Hill as they celebrate our 42nd year this July 4th, 2024! There are many ways to participate, click on the link below to learn more. For more information, click here

  • 7:45 am – Firecracker 5k & Kids 100-Yard Dash: Firecracker 5K Race and kids 100 yard dash! Prizes for the top finishers. Proceeds go to Pleasant Hill schools!
  • 9:30 am – Parade: Come to Downtown Pleasant Hill and see the World Famous Pleasant Hill Parade!
  • 10:30 am – Park Event: After the parade ends, walk over to Pleasant Hill Park for live music, food, and fun.
  • 8:45 pm – Fireworks: Enjoy an evening of fireworks at College Park High School with a viewing party with food trucks and music. The suggested donation is $4 (per person).

City of Richmond

  • JULY 3 Fireworks & Celebration: Fireworks, food, and fun are what this event is all about.  Celebrate with your fellow community members at Marina Bay Park to enjoy music until the night sky explodes with color in our 20-minute fireworks display. Obtain a booth and be a part of this event by completing and submitting our vendor application.
  • The event is from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Marina Bay Park with fireworks beginning around 9:00 pm, or shortly after.

City of San Pablo

  • 5:00 pm: Join the City of San Pablo for its 4th of July Multi-Cultural Celebration Event. The event is from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the San Pablo Community Center. Enjoy a day filled with electrifying live music , delicious food , fun-filled carnival games , the irresistible rhythms of Viva Santana Tribute Band.
  • Dusk:  live drone light show!

City of San Ramon

  • 8:00 am: The 2024 Run San Ramon 5k/10k presented by the City of San Ramon is celebrating its 39th year!  Get a healthy start to your 4th of July with this Independence Day Classic.  Enjoy the paved and looped 5K/10K course through San Ramon. The Fastest Mile is an out and back. All participants will receive a short sleeve commemorative shirt, bib, and participation medal.  For more information – click here
  • 4:00 pm: The San Ramon 4th of July Celebration Concert will feature The Three Queens of Soul performing a high energy tribute show to the legendary music of Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner & Diana Ross! The evening will begin with patriotic music from Olympia Fields, and a tribute to our Veterans. The San Ramon Arts Foundation will have food, wine, beer, soda, and water available for purchase. Shade structures, tents, and umbrellas will only be permitted at the top of the ridge/hill to ensure lines of sight remain open. There will be no fireworks display — more info

City of Walnut Creek

Join the Walnut Creek Concert Band for a FREE concert at Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek celebrating 4th of July. Concert begins at 6pm at the gazebo. For more info, click here


Other Events

  • Benicia – Fireworks in downtown Benicia on the Fourth of July. Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.
  • Hannah Nicole Vineyards – Join them at 1:00 pm on July 4 as we perform many dance music favorites outdoors at the beautiful grounds of Hannah-Nicole Vineyards in Brentwood. Great wine selection, food truck and other vendors will be on site to make it all a fantastic afternoon to celebrate. More info
  • Livermore  Independence Day 5K and Kids Run (8:15 am). This beautiful course tours lower Sycamore Grove Park on a mix of paved and dirt trails, perfect for creating fireworks along your fitness journey. This flat-ish loop combines the Winery Loop dirt trail and returns on the paved Arroyo Del Valle Regional Trail through the middle of Sycamore Grove Park. More details, click here.
  • Livermore Family Friendly 4th of July: Join us at the Livermore Municipal Airport from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and enjoy live music, Livermore-based culinary experience, aircraft displays, remote-control aircraft demonstrations, and many more.  For updates and other events, visit www.LivermoreCA.gov/JulyFourth
  • Napa – Drone Show will be held in downtown Napa with 400 drones above Pearl and West Street parking lot. The show will be approximately 15-minutes in duration and begins at 9:30 pm.
  • Suisun City – Celebration begins at 11:00 am at the Suisun City Waterfront. This year’s festivities will include food and retail vendors, amusement rides, community acts, live music, and a fireworks show. This year’s amusement rides will be located in Sheldon Plaza and on Driftwood Drive. Community acts will begin at 11:00am on Harbor Plaza Stage and include performances and demonstrations by Motion Dynamics Youth Dance, Train 4 Life, and Line Dancing. Live Music will begin at 2:00pm with Dos Bandoleros band opening for event, followed by St. Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band at 4:30pm, and TAKE 2 headlining the event beginning at 7:00pm. The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:15pm. For more information, click here

The city has no need to do fireworks show. Looks and sounds like Beirut in 1972. Warnings mean squat.
