Updated: Female Wounded in Road Rage Shooting in Antioch

At 7:47 pm Tuesday, a female was wounded after a subject opened fire on Lone Tree Way in the City of Antioch.

The incident occurred on Lone Tree Way near Canada Valley and came to a stop at the Highway 4 onramp in the City of Antioch which prompted a response from both the Antioch Police Department and Brentwood Police Department and briefly shut down a portion of Lone Tree Way.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle into a pole with windows shot out and a female wounded. Initially, a medical helicopter was requested, however Contra Costa County firefighters opted for an AMR ground transport to an area hospital. The victims condition was not known. Two other occupants in the vehicle appeared uninjured.

According to preliminary information, the victim vehicle appears to be a bystander which was struck by gunfire after two other vehicles were involved in a road rage incident when one of the occupants in another vehicle opened fire on another vehicle, however, the bullets struck the victim vehicle instead.  Both the vehicle with the shooter and the vehicle they shot at fled the scene.

Antioch Police is investigating the incident and offered no other details.

Antioch Police UPDATE

On March 14, 2023, at approximately 7:51 pm, the Antioch Police Department’s Communications Center received a call from the Brentwood Police Department advising there was someone shot on Lone Tree Way at the intersection of State Route 4 (SR-4).

Antioch Police Officers responded and located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. To clarify, Lone Tree Way intersects with SR-4 in two areas, and this was the intersection on the border of Brentwood, not where Lone Tree Way turns into ‘A’ Street.

Through investigation, officers learned this was a road rage incident between two unrelated vehicles.

One of the occupants of a vehicle involved in the road rage shot at the other vehicle. In doing so, they shot an unrelated occupant of a vehicle nearby.
