Livermore Police Arrest 14-Year-Old in Attempted Carjackings

Livermore Police make an arrest on recent attempted carjackings in downtown parking garage. A 14-year-old Livermore resident was arrested on March 21, 2024 and was booked on several charges.

On March 12, 2024, Livermore Police received a report of a suspect approaching a man at the downtown parking structure (near the intersection of Livermore and Railroad Avenues) threatening to harm him if he did not give the suspect his car. The suspect placed his hand in his pocket to mimic a gun and the victim drove away as the suspect kicked his car.

Four days later, on March 16, 2024, Livermore Police received four additional reports of a suspect with a similar description as the first report who attempted the carjackings.

Through video surveillance and witness statements, Livermore Police’s Crime Prevention Unit identified the suspect as a 14-year-old from Livermore.

On March 21, 2024, the juvenile was arrested at his school without incident and transported to the Alameda County Juvenile Hall in San Leandro. He is facing multiple counts of attempted carjacking, attempted robbery and criminal threats.

“I want to thank our officers for their hard work and diligence on this investigation,” said Livermore Police Chief Jeramy Young.

Anyone with information about these cases can call the Livermore Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (925) 371-4790.
