May 20-26: Richmond Police Calls

The following Richmond Police Calls are for May 20-26 .  These are the dates and recaps reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 2,026 calls for service with 35 arrests and 35 vehicle crashes.

Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.

5/21 – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI): Officers were conducting a separate traffic stop when they observed a vehicle spinning donuts at the intersection of Marina Way and Chanslor. Additional officers responded and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded. #5108

5/21 – POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of 24th St and Wendell Ave for a moving violation. A records check revealed the driver had a warrant for her arrest. Officers recovered a firearm during a search of the vehicle. The suspect was arrested without incident. #5113

5/23 – AUTO BURGLARY: Officers responded to the 200 block of S. 15th St for a report of an auto burglary in progress. Officers located the suspect and quickly took him into custody. #5170

5/23 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 4000 block of Fall Ave for a report of a man with a gun. Officers found numerous casings at the scene. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. No victims were located and no property appeared to have been struck by gunfire. #5202

5/24 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #5231
5/25 – SHOPLIFTING: Officers responded to the 4800 block of Central Ave for a report of a theft. Officers learned the suspect exited the store with unpaid merchandise and loss prevention lost sight of the suspect after a brief chase. Officers circulated the area and located the suspect. The suspect was arrested and transported to a local hospital to be medically cleared prior to being booked. #5257
5/25 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to three ShotSpotter activations in the 400 block of Chanslor Ave. Upon arrival, officers located 2 victims at the scene, both victims were transported to nearby hospitals in stable condition. This investigation is ongoing. #5268
5/26 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #5286
5/26 – CARJACKING: Officers responded to the 600 block of Pennsylvania Ave for a report of an armed carjacking. Officers learned two suspects pointed firearms at the victims and ordered them out of their vehicle. Officers were able to locate the vehicle with the use of Flock, but the vehicle accelerated upon seeing officers. The vehicle became disabled after it collided with the center median and the suspects fled on foot. Both suspects were located and taken into custody. A firearm was also recovered. #5288
5/26 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #5296
