Toan Tran Named New Chief Operating Officer of Tri Delta Transit

Antioch, CA, – Tri Delta Transit is happy to announce and welcome the candidate selected to be the new Chief Operating Officer – Toan Tran.   He will assume his role of COO on December 12, 2022.  Tran replaces long-time COO Steve Ponte who is retiring after 26 distinguished years at the agency.

Tran comes to Tri Delta Transit with over 20 years of experience working in the transit industry.  His career includes serving as the Director of Operations and Innovation with Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, Chief Operating Officer with San Joaquin Regional Transit District prior to that, as well as Manager of Transit Program Controls with Orange County Transportation Authority.  Tran holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from California State University of Fullerton. Tran is also a recent graduate of Leadership APTA 2022, American Public Transportation Association’s program focusing on concentrated higher education, leadership skills, and facilitating change.

Tran’s experience will greatly serve Tri Delta Transit, who has served eastern Contra Costa County for the past 45 years.  Tran currently resides in Stockton, California with his wife and two young children.

Chair Anissa Williams states, “We are greatly saddened by the retirement of Steve Ponte, who has been pivotal for Tri Delta Transit operations for the last 26 years.   His wealth of knowledge and expertise has helped grow Tri Delta Transit into what it is today.  Tri Delta Transit is fortunate to have new strong leadership and direction, with both the new CEO Rashidi Barnes and now COO Toan Tran.  We look forward to the amazing changes and innovations that Tri Delta Transit will go through with our next steps.”

Current COO Steve Ponte will assume the title of COO Transitional Officer until he retires officially in February.
