Contra Costa County Fire Engine and AMR Unit Struck on Highway 4

For the second time in weeks, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District units were struck by another vehicle while tending to a vehicle crash.

The incident happened at 2:28 am on Highway 4 and no injuries were reported. CONFIRE also did not say where on Highway 4 the crash occurred, however, a crash was reported at Highway 4 and Loveridge in Pittsburg.

Per CONFIRE:

At approx 2:28 am ConFire units responded to a vehicle accident on eastbound Hwy 4, when a fire engine and ambulance were struck by a vehicle. No injuries to firefighters or medics, but engine placed out of service and ambulance had to be towed from scene. #slowdownmoveover

Back on February 18, 1 person died and 5 injured after a  a Tesla slammed into a Contra Costa County Fire Truck on I-680 in Walnut Creek. That crash was also in the early morning hours at 3:34 am and the crash was on northbound I-680, south of Treat Boulevard.

A Contra Costa County Fire Engine was stopped at the rear of the scene to protect personnel and assist in diverting traffic. At 3:54am, a Tesla Model S approaching the scene crashed into the rear of the fire engine. The driver of the Tesla sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
