Man Wounded in Friday Night Shootout in Antioch

A man was wounded Friday night after a shootout in the City of Antioch.

According to preliminary information, Antioch Police Department officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired on Parkgreen Cir around 7:30 pm.

While responded, it was reported two people were shot, however, upon arrival, police said there was only one victim who was wounded during the gunfire. More than 10-shots were fired in what appeared to be a shootout between two groups of people.

The male victim was reportedly shot in the leg and was alert and breathing, however, was uncooperative with police. He was treated by Contra Costa County firefighters and transported via AMR to an area hospital for treatment.

While investigating the scene, police located one shell casing in the front yard with several being located in the street. Police were also notified by kids playing at Knoll Park that they had located three shell casing on Valley Way at Country Hills.

Antioch Police offered no details on scene and no one was in custody. Antioch Police were investigating the incident and blocked off the home to determine if any gunshots entered inside.

A police vehicle also had to be towed from the scene after it blew a radiator while responding to the call.

This is what happens to a community when criminal elements decide to make it their home. It’s a shame what’s happened to Antioch. Absolute shame.

APD seems to have a maintenance problem with its vehicles. Very bad. Good thing nothing serious was going on. Do they have to car pool now?
