The following message was released by the Stockton Police Department Saturday regarding two 7-Eleven employees assaulting a robbery suspect.
From Stockton Police:
It has been brought to our attention that a video of two 7-Eleven employees assaulting a robbery suspect has been circulating. We are aware of the incident and the investigation is ongoing. The following is to provide clarity on the situation:
On July 28, 2023, at 3:41 a.m., an employee of 7-Eleven reported a suspect entered the business, went behind the counter, and threatened to shoot the victim if he intervened. The suspect then took several packs of cigarettes and other items and placed them in a large garbage bag before fleeing.
On July 29, 2023, at 12:27 a.m., the employee reported the same suspect from the previous incident entered the business and demanded money while simulating having a handgun. The employee did not comply; therefore, the suspect grabbed several food items and placed them in a garbage bag before fleeing.
On July 29, 2023, at 3:05 a.m., Officers responded to the area of Center St/Market St, to meet with Stockton Fire Dept who was with a male requesting medical aid and complained of pain to his leg and shoulder. The male did not know if he had been assaulted. The male was then transported to an area hospital to be treated for a complaint of pain. At the time this was reported, Officers could not confirm if the male was a victim of an assault, or a suspect related to the series of robberies at the 7-Eleven.
On Thursday August 3, 2023, thanks to the diligence of a witness recording the July 29 robbery and assault, the Stockton Police Department was able to combine the investigations of the suspected robberies and suspected assault.
The case has been assigned to our Investigations Bureau for follow up interviews and evidence review. Once the investigations are complete the findings will be forwarded to the San Joaquin County District Attorney for review.
No other information was released by the Stockton Police Department

The clerks reacted to threats of deadly force while this dark fellow was commiting a felony. They used necessary force to subdue the criminal. I see no problem.
Nothing to see here, hoodrat got what he deserved.
Criminals have free rein in California.
See nothing wrong with instant justice.
Oh, don’t worry, Rob Bonta will be on this in a flash. He’ll have the clerks indicted and the criminal exonerated before you know it.
Small business owners need to stand up to protect their livelihood. Look at the news and see how much these people have to endure. Some have been robbed multiple times with no justice given to them. Come together and fight against what is happening to you guys. Tell your representatives that this is wrong and will not be tolerated
