Antioch Police Say Attempted Vehicle Theft Results in Shooting

The Antioch Police Department provided several updates regarding recent incidents that occurred within the City of Antioch including a shooting during an attempted vehicle theft.

On Sept. 16 at 12:35 am, the Antioch Police responded to the 3900 block of Rocky Point Drive for a report of multiple shots fired. According to police, the victim was sitting in his girlfriend’s car out in front of his house talking to her before she drove home.  They witnessed an unknown male attempting to break into and/or steal an SUV across the street from where they were sitting.

The couple began honking the horn and flashing the lights to try and scare the subject away.

They drove toward the vehicle and the male fled on foot.  They followed behind the male while trying to call 911 when the unknown male shot at them at least nine times striking the vehicle several times.  There were no injuries just property damage from the shooting.

The suspect was described as a Unknown race male about 5’7” to 5’9” wearing all black clothing.

According to Antioch Police Crime Data, there have been 778 vehicle thefts in Antioch thus far in 2023.

 

Antioch Stabbing

On Sept. 21 at 6:00 pm, police responded to a report of a male stabbed in the head at the dead end of Slatten Ranch and Wicklow Way.

According to police, officers responded JCPenney’s for a report of a male who was stabbed.  Officers arrived and found the victim suffering from stab wounds to his face, neck, and shoulder.  The victim said he parked his truck at the dead end of Slatten Ranch and was approached by the suspect.  After an altercation the suspect stabbed the victim several times on the upper torso. The victim was able to run away from the suspect. The suspect fled from the scene on foot and was not found.  The victim was transported to an area hospital and was in stable condition. The suspect was later located and arrested at approximately 2:00 in the morning by graveyard officers. The suspect was booked into MDF.

The victim was a 37-year-old male and the suspect was a 43-year-old male. No other information was released, however, according to a source, the victim was an off duty police officer from an outside agency.

Sideshow

On Sept. 24 between 12:00 pm and 2:00 am, the Antioch Police Department responded to multiple reports of sideshow activity within the City of Antioch.

According to police,  Over the course of two hours, there were three sideshows involving multiple vehicles. The first sideshow was located at Lone Tree Way and Hillcrest Avenue. Officers were able to disperse the crowd and vehicles. One of the vehicles fled from the scene and crashed. Officers responded to the crash and detained the driver. A search revealed a loaded firearm. The driver was arrested, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

The second sideshow was the intersection of 18th St and A Street. Officers were once again able to disperse the crowd and as a result another vehicle that was attempting to flee crashed. The driver was able to flee before officers arrived and the vehicle was found to be stolen. A second vehicle also crashed. The stolen vehicle was returned to their owner and the second vehicle was placed on a 30 day impound.

The last sideshow took place at the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and Davidson. Officers were able to once again stop the sideshow and locate the main vehicle involved. The vehicle was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle out of Concord.

The sideshows damaged several city poles in the various locations.

Participate And Car Gets Forfeited September 28, 2023 - 9:04 am

Ignorance abounds. Bet if those participating in and watching these shows resulted in the forfeiture of their vehicles, this would cease. But of course, work would be required to enact and unfortunately legislator’s are too busy focusing on “dumb” bills to care.
