Update: Brentwood Police Officer Stabbed by 16-Year-Old

A Brentwood Police Officer was stabbed Wednesday in downtown Brentwood while responded to a subject armed with a knife.

According to police, On October 11, 2023, at about 5:35 p.m. officers responded to a report of a subject in the area of Brentwood City Park armed with a kitchen knife.

The caller reported that, at times, the subject appeared to be taunting other people with the knife. As Brentwood Police officers arrived on scene, they contacted the male, a 16-year-old juvenile.

After numerous attempts to de-escalate the situation an officer moved in to detain the juvenile. As he did, the juvenile stabbed the officer. A bystander assisted other officers in physically detaining the juvenile, who was subsequently taken into custody.

The officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital.

Police have determined that there are no outstanding subjects and there is no threat to the general public.

UPDATE

On October 16, the Brentwood Police Department released a statement on a police officer who was stabbed at City Park,  the officer has since been discharged from the hospital and is home recovering.  Police also acknowledged the courageous actions of a Good Samaritan who selflessly came to the aid of our officers during this incident. Their assistance was appreciated. The District Attorney’s Office has formally charged the suspect who attacked our officer. This suspect remains in custody at Juvenile Hall.

At approximately 5:50 pm Wednesday, a Brentwood Police Officer was reported to be stabbed in the back in downtown Brentwood.

The incident took place on Oak St and 3rd Street within the City of Brentwood. A medical helicopter was requested, however, they opted for a ground transport for the office along with two firefighters to assist in treatment.

No other details have been released and its unknown if anyone is in custody.

Check back for updates as Brentwood Police have released no official information as of 6:05 pm.

A bystander assisted other officers in physically detaining the juvenile, this is after the cop got stabbed, sounds like great police work there in Gaza, I mean Brentwood.

It doesnt matter his age, he was a threat and should have been at the very least tased. You can’t sit down and have milk & cookies with 51/50s, you need to eliminate the threat at all costs.

Officers were being too nice. After numerous attempts, they de-escalated alright… the officer could have been killed. Who cares he is a juvenile they had every right to shoot him
