Updated: Moraga Police Investigating Murder-Suicide

MORAGA, CA – On January 3, 2024, approximately 4:40 pm, Moraga Police received a call requesting a welfare check at a residence on Southard Court.  The reporting party had been unable to contact their parents, who reside at the address.

Officers responded to the address and were met by a neighbor who advised that he also had not been able to contact the residents and was also concerned about their welfare.

Officers entered the residence and searched for the residents, discovering two individuals who had been shot and were deceased.  Based upon the evidence at the scene, the incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide.

Contra Costa County Crime Lab and Coroner’s Bureau also responded to assist.  We are not releasing additional identifying information until we ensure that family members have all been notified.

UPDATE:

The deceased persons have been identified as Brad Triebsch, 60, and Rebekah Triebsch, 59, both of Moraga.  Autopsies were conducted on Thursday by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s office.  The cause of death of both individuals was determined to be gunshot wounds.  Other details of the incident remain under investigation.

News 24-680 broke this story after reporting two people were found dead inside a home in which Moraga Police responded.
