Martinez, CA – The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors appointed Captain Jane Andreotti to fill the role as Interim Animal Services Director during a special meeting on Thursday.
Captain Andreotti will assume the role as Interim Director on January 16, 2024, and will hold the position through the appointment of a permanent Animal Services Director.
Captain Andreotti possesses over 30 years of public sector experience, having previously served in various roles with the Berkeley and Walnut Creek Police Departments. Since joining CCAS in 2009, Captain Andreotti has progressed through the Field Services ranks, as an Animal Services Officer, Lieutenant and ultimately Captain.
“I’m honored to assume the role of Interim Animal Services Director during this period of transition,” said Andreotti. “With a steadfast commitment to the welfare of our community’s animals, I’m very confident that our dedicated team will continue to ensure quality services and prioritize the well-being and safety of the people and animals of Contra Costa County.”
Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors Chair, Federal Glover, reflected upon the Board’s decision.
“Captain Andreotti’s years of experience at Animal Services, coupled with her extensive background in local law enforcement, makes her the ideal candidate to fill the position of Interim Animal Services Director,” said Supervisor Glover. “We have full confidence that Captain Andreotti will maintain stability at Animal Services during the County’s executive recruitment process.”
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will initiate a recruitment process to identify and appoint a new Director for Contra Costa Animal Services. Details about the recruitment process will be made available in the coming weeks.
