The Contra Costa County Sheriff confirmed a shooting occurring Friday in the Town of Byron while a juvenile was punched.
On Friday, February 9, 2024, at about 9:40 PM, Delta Station deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a report of an assault and possible shooting in the area of Holey Road and Byron Hot Springs Road in Byron.
Responding deputies learned there was a large gathering of juveniles, and a fight occurred where one subject punched another after an argument. There were also reports a person fired gunshots into the air, causing the juveniles to flee.
Deputies determined that no one was shot, and the juvenile who was punched went to a local hospital on his own.
No other information was released on the incident by Sheriffs spokesperson Jimmy Lee.
