City Of Pleasant Hill Says it Was Target In Cyber Attack

The City of Pleasant Hill announced that it is investigating a cyber attack incident that occurred Thursday afternoon.

In a release from the city:

The City of Pleasant Hill Police Department is currently investigating a cyber incident that occurred on the City’s computer infrastructure Thursday afternoon.

City of Pleasant Hill IT professionals detected and responded to a cyber intrusion targeting the City’s computer servers. The intrusion was quickly isolated in order to minimize any damage.

The City is presently evaluating the extent of the intrusion, and the incident remains under active investigation. The City is following established best practices in resolving the situation.

City services remained operational at all times, and public safety was never compromised.

As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.

The announcement comes hours after the City of Oakley formally announced a ransomware attack. Oakley says it was following industry best practice and developing a response plan to address the issue of the cyber attack. In abundance of caution, the City Manager has declared a local state of Emergency, the City’s Emergency Operations Center has been partially activated, and IT has taken affected systems offline while they work to safety secure and restore services.
