SACRAMENTO, CA – Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson (D-Suisun City) to serve on the Governor’s Military Council. Established in 2013, the Governor’s Military Council provides a sustained focus on growing California’s defense and national security missions in state administration.
The Council’s mission is to position California to maintain and grow military operations in the state and provide a sustained focus on growing California’s defense and national security missions in state administration.
With the recent Department of Defense announcements on strategic shifts such as increasing force strength in the Pacific theater and prioritizing cyber-security provide California opportunities to increase military investment in our state. The Council provides insight and guidance to state leaders who are developing a strategy to support and grow military operations in the Golden State.
“As the Wife of a United States Air Force Veteran and the Mother of a Marine, it is an honor to receive this Gubernatorial appointment,” said Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson (D-Suisun City). “Travis Air Force base is a gem for my community and I look forward to supporting Travis and other bases throughout California in this new role. I also look forward to doing work to support service members and military families throughout our state. We must invest in and protect California’s military operations both as a matter of national security as well as recognizing the benefits these bases provide to local communities.”

Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson was elected in April 2022 to represent California’s 11th Assembly District which includes all of Solano County and portions of Contra Costa and Sacramento Counties. The District includes the Cities of: Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Oakley, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville and Vallejo.
