Contra Costa Fire Battling 3-Alarm Vegetation Fire

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is working a 3-alarm vegetation fire in the downtown area Friday.

The fire broke out as a smoke investigation at 3:34 pm in the 1700 block of W 4th Street and quickly was determined to be a vegetation fire. The fire had grown to require additional manpower.

By 4:09 pm, a full vegetation fire was requested along with a second alarm. By 4:27 pm, a third alarm was requested.

By 4:33 pm, CONFIRE was working to ensure the fire burned towards the delta waters.

As of 5:03 pm, water drops were being utilized with the fire currently 18-acres in size. No structures are threatened.

As of 6:10 pm, the fire was at 19-acres and 70% contained.
