37-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Murder in Antioch

Serico Justice

On December 27, 2022, at 2:13 pm, the Antioch Police Department’s Dispatch Center began receiving 9-1-1 calls regarding a shooting in the 2300-block of Mandarin Way. Officers immediately responded and located Ms. Hannisha Willis, 31, of Antioch, lying on the sidewalk, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Ms. Willis was transported to a local hospital by ambulance but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and took over the investigation. They learned prior to the shooting, there was a physical altercation that ensued between Willis and the suspect, Ms. Serico Justice, 37, of Antioch. Prior to the physical altercation, Justice armed herself with a firearm, which she retrieved from her residence. During the fight, the firearm discharged and struck Ms. Willis in the head. Investigators recovered the suspected firearm used in the homicide.

Detectives arrested Justice for murder, and she was incarcerated at the Martinez Detention Facility. This case will be presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. — Full Story

Updated: Two Stabbed Monday Morning in Antioch

On December 26, 2022, at 7:42 am, officers responded to the 3500 block of Clayburn Road for the report of a fight. Prior to officers arriving, the caller advised someone had been stabbed. The suspect, Jesus Martinez Perez, was located by officers in the front yard of another residence on Clayburn Road. Through investigation, officers learned the suspect was related to the victim and this was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public. — Full Story

On December 20, an operation led by the California Department of Cannabis Control in the City of Antioch led to more than $14 million in cannabis products seized. — Full Story

Antioch Police Say Homicide Suspect Who Shot and Killed Teen Still Outstanding

Antioch Police DepartmentThe victim of this tragic event was Thomas Smith, and he was 16 years old. He was identified by a family member who arrived on scene. He was from Louisiana and was in the City of Antioch visiting family.

The 15-year-old juvenile that was detained in Walmart was an acquaintance of Mr. Smith’s and was arrested for charges unrelated to the homicide. Police said in their original release, the juvenile was in possession of a loaded firearm.

The homicide suspect remains outstanding, and this incident is still being investigated by our Investigations Bureau.
