Antioch Police Say Threat of School Violence Made Against Deer Valley HS

The Antioch Police Department said Wednesday morning they would have continuous extra patrols of all Antioch Unified School District campuses Wednesday after a suspicious incident Tuesday.

According to police, officers responded to a “suspicious graffiti” incident at the Antioch Community Center where a threat of school violence was made against Deer Valley High School Campus (4700 Lone Tree Way). The call came in at approximently 4:30 pm.

Officers conducted an immediate investigation, notified school officials, collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and do not believe the threat to be credible at this time.

The community is asked to notified police if any suspicious activity is noticed in or around any of our schools, please call the Antioch Police Dispatch at (925) 778-2441 (option 9) or 911 if an emergency.

The Antioch Unified School District has not released any information on the threat.

School Threats Last Week

  • On February 10, Walnut Creek Police responded to Las Lomas High School following a phone call indicating someone had a gun on campus. They ultimately gave the “all clear” after Las Lomas officials immediately had students and teachers shelter in classrooms.
  • On February 10, Brentwood Police Department officers showed up to Liberty High School after several students who did not attend the school showed up in the parking lot. Police made contact with the non-students and they were identified. No credible threat of weapons being involved. They called it an isolated incident.
  • On February 9, the Pittsburg Police Department responded to Pittsburg High School after a threat was made mentioning the campus. The incident began at approximently 10:30 am. After an extensive and exhaustive search by law enforcement and the specially trained K9’s, the Pittsburg High School campus was found to be safe, and no explosives were found. The Pittsburg Police Department will continue its partnership with the Pittsburg Unified School District and have additional officers on campus in the coming days. Detective are continuing to follow up on leads as to who and why this threat was made.
