Brentwood Breaks Ground on New Elementary School

On April 28th, the Brentwood Union School District (BUSD) held a groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of their 13th school and newest elementary school campus.

School Board President Stephanie Williams-Rogers thanked the community for their support of Measure B and shared how excited the Board was to open a brand-new beautiful school in the fall of 2024.

Superintendent Dana Eaton shared that the Board will be soon undergoing a naming process and hiring a principal to prepare for the opening.

Board Clerk Thuy Dao-Jensen and Board Members Scott Dudek, Steve Gursky and Emil Geddes joined Williams-Rogers and Eaton for a ceremonial photo as community leaders looked on.

The school is located south of Lone Tree and east of O’Hara and is being built by C. Overaa Construction.

Brentwood Elementary School

According to Superintendent Dana Eaton:

  • Total cost of construction? $78 million
  • Name of construction firm? OVERAA
  • Expected date of completion? July 2024 to open TK-5
  • Project total enrollment? Just over 700 (500 in July 2024)
  • Number of classrooms? 38 classrooms, Multipurpose room, kitchen, and gym at completion
  • Any special features?

      • Will have a Multipurpose room, Gym, locker rooms, 2 science rooms, library.
      • Will have two fields, upper grade and lower grade play structures

Editors Note:  On June 7th, 2016, Brentwood Union School District voters passed Measure B, a $158 million dollar bond measure.  Measure B was passed by a super-majority of voters with more than 57% of voters supporting the measure
