San Ramon K9 Assist Helps Take Shoplifting Suspects into Custody

On May 6 around 1:00 pm, the Contra Costa County Sheriff, with the help of San Ramon Police, took two suspects into custody after a theft case.

According to San Ramon Police, their K-9 unit was dispatched to assist the sheriff’s office after a shoplifting, followed by an attempted carjacking, had occurred in Bay Point. The suspects then ran off on foot and were hiding in the area.

With the assist of a K9 unit, the two suspects were taken into custody after they were found hiding in bushes—K-9 Dexter led officers to the suspects.

According to Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Spokesperson Jimmy Lee, the suspects were identified as Dwon Ramsey, age 27, and Michaela Dominguez, age 27.

Both suspects immediately surrendered and were arrested without incident. They were later booked at the County jail on charges including theft, vehicle pursuit and attempted carjacking.

The shoplifting amount or business stolen from was not provided.
