Just before 5:30 pm Wednesday, the Oakley Police officers and firefighters responded to a report of two people unresponsive in a vehicle at the Big Break Marina in the City of Oakley.

First Responders were dispatched to the marina on a report of a suspicious vehicle which had alcohol and pill bottles all around the vehicle, when the reporting person observed two people unresponsive, 9-1-1 was called.

Upon arrival, Oakley Police located the two subjects with one person not breathing and the other not responding.

At least three doses of Narcan was deployed on scene to one occupant of the vehicle who began to breath again. The other person woke up upon contact with firefighters. Both were treated by Contra Costa County Fire protection District Firefighters and AMR. The other occupant of the vehicle was sitting up and speaking with firefighters while being treated.

Its unclear what pills and drugs were used, however, pill bottles were visible inside the vehicle, outside of the vehicle along with beer cans. Pills were also spilled inside the vehicle–believed to be fentanyl.

No other information was released on the incident.

UPDATE – per Oakley Police

Our officers were dispatched to a report of a possible overdose at the Big Break Marina regarding a male and a female unresponsive in a vehicle. Our officers arrived on scene and administered 3 doses of Narcan to a female in the driver seat of the vehicle. She began to breathe but was non-responsive.

She was transported by AMR. The male passenger woke up after a sternum rub but was also transported due to his vitals being off. The female was reportedly given two more doses of Narcan on the way to the hospital by paramedics.

We do believe Fentanyl was involved in this incident. I further believe a life was saved due to the multiple doses of Narcan administered by first responders. — said Paul Beard
