The United States Postal Inspection Service is offering up to a $50,000 reward in a case where a USPS letter carrier was robbed in the city of Antioch.
According to the US Postal Inspection Service, they are asking for information that will help lead to an arrest and conviction of a suspect who robbed a USPS letter carrier.
The incident occurred at Kendree Street in the City of Antioch on May 4, 2023 at 3:23 pm.
If you have any information, contact (877) 876-2455 (say law enforcement). Reference case No. 4030903-Robb. All information will be strictly confidential.
According to Postal Inspector Matthew Norfleet, on May 4 on Kendree Street, a robber took a postal key from the carrier, who was not injured. The robber implied he had a weapon, and they have to assume any robber is armed, but they cannot confirm what weapon the robber may have had. The robber fled to the passenger side door of a vehicle that was already moving, so there were at least two people involved in committing the robbery.
Norfleet says unauthorized possession of the key is a crime, and it can only be used to steal mail. He asks that if anyone has any information about unauthorized postal keys, they would like to talk with you. You may also be eligible for a reward if you can provide information that leads to arrest and conviction of mail thieves, this robber, or anyone else who robbed a postal carrier.
They also ask anyone who lives near the area to report mail they believe may have been stolen — either because they expected and never received it, or because they saw later that it was exploited without their permission.
According to the Antioch Police Department crime data, so far in 2023, there have been 57 robberies. In 2022, Antioch had 166 robberies, 151 robberies in 2021, and 142 in 2020.
Note – because this is a USPS case, the robbery never made the Antioch Police Department calls for service list. Here is the most recent call logs:
