Firefighters Battle 73-Acre Vegetation Fire in Brentwood

A vegetation fire in unincorporated Brentwood spread to 73-acres Sunday afternoon according to CALFIRE.

At 1:20 pm Sunday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Deer Valley Road and Chadbourne Road in unincorporated Brentwood.

The fire sent a large column of smoke into East Contra Costa County and the fire ended up making its way near Heritage High School.

Upon arrival, fire crews located approximately 2-acres of vegetation on fire and it quickly spread requiring a 2-alarm response plus CALFIRE resources.

By 3:16 pm, the fire had grown to 55-acres and was just 60% contained.

As of 5:30 pm, the fire was listed as 73-acres and 90% contained.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No other details have been released.
