The Pittsburg Police Department announced that a store clerk was arrested for hiding and selling drugs illegally in a store to minors.
According to police, the clerk was selling tobacco to minors while also hiding and illegally selling drugs in the store.
The Pittsburg Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) recently conducted a compliance check on a local convenience store. The operation was designed to make sure minors couldn’t buy tobacco. However, detectives discovered the illegal operation after the clerk sold tobacco to an underage decoy.
During the search, officers located an 8-ft hidden compartment with more than 3,000 flavored vape products and cigar wraps. Then, a further search located muchrooms, marijuana, Vicodin pills that were sold out of the business to patrons.
The clerk was arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of sale.
According to police, the tobacco compliance checks are made possible by a grant from the Department of Justice. The goal of the grant is to achieve 100% compliance from Pittsburg retailers to stop underage sales of tobacco to minors.
The investigation was solely of the Pittsburg Police Department and no other agencies are involved at this time.
$15.3 Million of Illegal Cannabis Seized in Contra Costa County
An operation this week by the California Department of Cannabis Control resulted in $15.3 million in illegal cannabis being seized. The locations were not provided, however there were 20 search warrants served on June 20 in the City of Antioch, City of Brentwood, City of Pittsburg and the Town of Discovery Bay. — see story
