Female Struck by Stray Bullet During Gunfight in Antioch

On July 5 at 9:55 pm, the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of multiple shots fired on W 14th Street in the City of Antioch.

According to preliminary information, two individuals on W 14th Street near Klengel St exchanged gunfire at one another leaving multiple casings in the area. A short time later, police discovered a female who was uninvolved was struck by a bullet in the leg.

Police confirmed she was a bystander and one of the bullets traveled into a home striking her in the leg as she was laying in bed. No other information was released on the incident.

Antioch Police were on the street earlier today at W 14th and Macauley for a shooting where a 19-year-old was shot.

This makes the fourth shooting in less than 24-hours in the City of Antioch. Here is a recap of the other shootings.

  • At 11:24 pm on July 4, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a person who was shot in the neck. The shooting occurred in the downtown Antioch area at W 7th Street at J Street. Antioch Police secured the scene where CONFIRE made contact with the patient who reported they were in critical condition. A medical helicopter was requested. Police have confirmed both persons are expected to survive.
  • At 11:45 pm on July 4: officers were dispatched to an assault with bear mace in the 700 Block of J Street. While officers were on scene and after they separated both parties, a shot was fired at the victim’s direction. Officers were also in the line of fire. After the shot, officers confronted the female and she complied and dropped the gun. She was subsequently arrested.
  • At 1:37 pm on July 5, officers were dispatched to a report of multiple gunshots on Macauley Street where a 19-year-old male was wounded. A medical helicopter was requested, but ultimately, Contra Costa County Fire protection District firefighters and AMR opted for a ground transport. No information on this shooting has been released, but its believed the gun used was an AK-47.

Thorpe has helped create this climate of lawlessness by bashing police and making them the problem. Notice the deafening silence coming from the lectern. He’s all too happy to use it to lambaste police or tout his weak nonsensical agenda, but nothing from him while the city burns. What leadership!

As far as I can tell from the info provided – race had nothing to do with the support the police provided.
Thank you to the Antioch police for putting your lives on the line dealing with unlawful residents of the city – regardless of race.
