Woman With Knife on Oakley Campus Had Stay Away Order at Antioch School District

A woman arrested with a knife at Delta Vista Middle School in Oakley had a stay away order from the Antioch Unified School District.

Back on August 15, Oakley Police responded to Delta Vista Middle School for a report of a woman with a knife. They located the Yvette Brice, 61 of Antioch, with a knife and using it in a threatening manner. A  police officer drew his firearm before ultimately forcibly taking the knife from Brice in front of students and other parents—she was then arrested.

According to police, officers were taking Brice into custody several students broke out into mutual combat type fights with each other, even while school staff and our officers were actively trying to keep the peace.

This isn’t the first time Brice had been on campus where she encouraged fights and encouraged others to disturb the peace. Due to her behavior, earlier this year, Antioch Unified School District responded by spending $7,954 in legal fees to keep Brice away from the Antioch Unified School District.

According to a Public Records Request, in a letter by Dallas Ranch Middle School Principal Bridget Spires dated January 18, 2023, she highlights multiple incidents as to why Brice needed to be kept away from the school and District.

On October 28, 2022 Brice had an altercation with another parent as a result of her niece and their student being in conflict with one another. During the incident, Brice pulled a knife and used in a threatening manner toward a parent as a response to them directing a baseball bat at you.

The letter highlights staff had spoken with Brice on several occasions about questioning students on their interactions with her niece—including conflict and possible fights while also saying “she might have to hit a kid”.

On January 13, Brice allegedly was involved in a disturbance on campus where she entered the campus and led a group of students behind her asking your niece who the person was she was having a problem with.

The letter states, “this created quite a ruckus and stir on our campus as students believed you were at the school to confront or fight a student. We received complaints from students, parents, and staff that this created a hostile school environment. This incident was observed by staff and required you to be escorted off campus by site safety and administration.”

The letter also states Brice took her niece to fight people at the park as well as or to Rite Aid to stir up trouble.

The AUSD filed a workplace Violence and Restraining Order against Brice on February 22, 2023 by Bridget Spires and employee Melissa Wilson—while the court documents say that Brice’s niece was expelled from school because she brought a weapon on campus to fight other students at direction of Brice.

Spires says  Brice again encouraged her niece to threaten students and instigate fights with them while Brice herself engages in the same threatening and violent behavior towards students, parents and staff on campus causing the students, faculty, and staff to fear coming to school.

The most recent incident was on February 2, 2023 when police were called to Black Diamond Middle School after a student showed up to school with injuries from a fight that took place at Rite Aid. It was stated that Brice and her niece were involved. Later that day, responded came onto campus in violation of the cease-and-desist letter to cause a scene. There is also testimony of multiple fights involving Brice, her niece and students.

Other instances were Brice had held down another student so her niece could beat the student. She would park her car in the middle of the school parking lot and blast music.

Spires and Wilson requested a restraining order to protect the students, faculty and staff at Dallas Ranch Middle School as well as the District.

The AUSD said it didn’t have any records regarding the police response or outcomes.

Both the Oakley Police Department and Oakley Union Elementary School District said it was unaware of the history of Brice with the Antioch Unified School District.

Low life behavior. That kind of conduct may have worked where she lived before, but clearly she’s going to be held accoutable in East County. Imagine being that old and not having a clue about how to conduct yourself or how to encourage youths in a positive way.

Why hasn’t she been arrested? Making threats, inciting violence, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse to name a few charges. They’re just waiting for her to actually stab or kill someone?

Why hadn’t she already been arrested? Making threats, inciting violence, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse to name a few charges. They’re just waiting for her to actually stab or kill someone?

CHILD ABUSE, AIDING AND CONTRIBUTING THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR, TERRORIST THREATS TO MINORS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY!!! How is this TRASH not in jail. These are RED FLAGS for any school! Are we going to wait until she gets a gun next time?

CHILD ENDANGERMENT, CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR, MAKING TERRORIST THREATS ON AND BRINGIN IN POSSESION AND BRANDISHING A WEAPON ON SCHOOL PROPERTY!

Jeez if ever there were RED FLAGS for people who were likely to go to schools to harm or kill children this is it. Should we just wait until she or her niece gets a gun? This person is TRASH and needs to be locked up and her TRASH niece needs to be permanently expelled from all CA schools.

Antioch school district as well as Oakley school is racist as hell. They allowed a white man and woman to banish a gun on my 6th graders last year allowed the parents to come back on to campus as well as the white student who was a 8th grader I didn’t see a news article about that. Antioch school district has failed to protect my children multiple times and from the looks of they failed to protect other students as well. I’ve seen that lady multiple times but not how they are identifying her in this article. This is slandering and a defamation of character because that lady is black.

Being black doesn’t make her innocent or guilty. It’s her actions, period. If she’s being threatening, brandishing a weapon, encouraging kids to fight and violence, it doesn’t matter what color she is, it’s wrong. Stop with the nonsense that her being arrested has to do with her ethnicity. That’s just not the case.

WOW, did you reported to the police? Did you report it to the school? Did they arrest that man?

Dave August 30, 2023 - 10:21 am

This “adult” should be locked up for child abuse and endangerment period. The fact that she is not on a watchlist for all schools is beyond me. AUSD should have shared its information on her.
