On August 28, 2023, at 10:13 a.m., the Sheriff’s Southwest Station deputies responded to a business in the 40800 block of Winchester Road in the City of Temecula, reference a grand theft of jewelry valued at approximately $30,000.

Upon arrival, deputies learned a black male adult entered the business and asked to view a high-priced piece of jewelry. Once handed the item, the suspect ran out of the business without paying and fled in a white colored sedan.

The Southwest Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the investigation. Through investigative leads members of RBST positively identified the suspect as Jason Warren, a 29-year-old resident of Florida. Deputies also learned Warren was involved in several other jewelry thefts across the nation totaling approximately $250,000 in loss and had warrants for his arrest.

On September 1, 2023, Warren was located by RBST in a shopping center in the 300 Block of Fletcher Parkway in the City of El Cajon. With the assistance of the Southwest Station Special Enforcement Team, Escondido Police Office and San Diego Police Office Warren was taken into custody without incident. A search of Warren’s vehicle revealed a large amount of currency and jewelry.

Warren was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for grand theft and his outstanding warrants. It is believed Warren is responsible for several other jewelry thefts in Southern California. Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact Deputy A. Valadez of the Southwest Station RBST Team at (951) 696-3032.
