Shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Monday, the Pittsburg Police Department, with the assistance of additional law enforcement agencies, conducted a large scale operation that involved serving numerous search and arrest warrants throughout Contra Costa County.

These warrants resulted from a murder investigation on an incident that occurred in Pittsburg on July 14, 2023, in the 2100 block of Crestview Drive.

During this investigation, several males shot into a moving vehicle, ultimately killing one man and seriously injuring another. Since the incident, investigators have worked tirelessly to obtain evidence and have identified numerous people involved in this incident.

During Monday’s operation, a total of ten search warrants were served in Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley, and Pleasant Hill.

During the search warrant service, nine people were arrested for various crimes. These crimes included murder, firearms violations, and narcotics-related offenses. Many of those arrested are believed to be directly involved or associates of an East Contra Costa County gang involved in criminal activity. Beyond what these suspects were arrested for, there are several ongoing investigations in which one or more of these individuals may have been involved.

19-year-old Pittsburg resident Amen Syrius Allen is wanted in connection to the July 14th murder. He should be considered armed and dangerous, and the Pittsburg Police Department encourages anyone who sees him to contact local law enforcement.

The Pittsburg Police Department would like to thank the Brentwood Police Department, Central County Tactical Team, Richmond Police Department, San Pablo Police Department, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigations- Safe Streets, and the US Marshals Office. Without their assistance, this operation could not have been a success. The Pittsburg Police Department and allied agencies would also like to thank the community members where these warrants were served for their patience and understanding during this activity.

This is still a very active and ongoing investigation. The Pittsburg Police Department intends to release additional information and details shortly.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Gutierrez at 925-252-4095 or the Pittsburg Police Department’s Tip Line at 925-252-4040.
