FRIDAY UPDATE VIA ANTIOCH POLICE

On October 5, 2023, at approximately 2:08 pm a motorcyclist was stopped at a red signal light at the intersection of Deer Valley Road and Prewett Ranch Drive when he was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed which caused the motorcyclist to be ejected.

The force of the collision caused both vehicles to collide into two other vehicles in the intersection. AMR paramedics and Antioch Police officers were nearby on an unrelated matter and immediately began rendering first aid to all involved.

The driver of the motorcycle (63-year-old male from Bay Point) was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle which caused the collision remained on scene and is cooperating with Antioch Police Traffic investigators. Speed and inattention appear to be the cause of this incident.

Speed and inattention should get jail time for a death, PERIOD!!!

It could just have easily been him running a redlight and t-boning a bus full of elementary kids. Peopled need to drive better. People that don’t need to pay with more than just a slap on wrist or their wallet.

RIP innocent motorcycle rider……

Such a horrible story. The same speeders we see all day every day and I am absolutely sick and tired of it. Every one of us is in danger on a daily basis and it’s got to stop.
I’m so very sorry to this man’s family.

My brother almost lost his leg because a woman was not paying attention, came over the center line pinned his leg to his bike. My deepest condolences to the family. RIP rider, my heart goes out for the rider and his family/friends.

The man who died is/was my uncle. 2 things need to happen. Police officers need to stop worrying about blowback by being more strict and actually issue more tickets. In addition, people need to start caring more about others on the road not just themselves and where they need to go

Antioch has zero traffic enforcement currently. It’s not the police departments fault they have a boss that nobody wants to work for.

This person speeding needs to be held accountable for murder , not manslaughter.. she knew she was speeding despite all the other traffic around.. that means she intentionally disregarded any and all drivers including the motorcycle.. I ride my motorcycle in Antioch many times and it never fails , speeders , red light runners, just idiots intentionally driving bad… now Antioch PD have been extremely aware of the traffic situation and we don’t want to hear anymore excuses on how we’re suppose to work with the community .. Bullshit ! This SGT Green is aware about the situations cause soon after that last fatality on James Donlon about a year ago as he was made aware of the concerns in one of their coffee with cops .. Captain Ford referred him to answer some of the question about speeders, side shows and in general the ongoing mayhem on Lone Tree , Deer Valley and Hillcrest on top of James Donlon. He gave the group some kind of BS answer and that they’d rather work with the speeders and not be so harsh in citing and arresting these offenders.. so again BS! So there has been many fatalities on these streets including the residential areas.. Also we don’t want to hear how understaff they are because of the texting controversy..Whoever the new Chief of police of Antioch is , get your act together and monitor the streets.. We already know the Mayor is a failure so citizens don’t have a choice but to wait for the election .. Have CHP, Sheriffs Dept or Pittsburg PD come over and help out on traffic.. The streets in Antioch needs 24/7 monitoring..
This traffic violator that killed the poor person on the motorcycle, she should get charged with murder.. The DA should consider the fact that this person is aware of the surroundings and should get prosecuted at the full extent of the law.. “murder” no excuses..

If they’re charged.. they would be charged with involuntary vehicular manslaughter which is a felony that includes jail time. Essentially they would be charged as if they were drunk and killed someone due to negligence.
