On Friday, Oakley Police responded to an assault that occurred after a man was fired for using illegal drugs while trimming trees only to chase a co-worker with a chainsaw which prompted a major response to Brentwood Blvd.

According to Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard,  At 3:26PM Oakley officers were dispatched to meet with Brentwood officers at 6337 Brentwood Blvd. in Brentwood (Brentwood Pena’s) regarding an assault that occurred at 5740 Main St. in Oakley (Oakley Pena Dismantler Auto Body & Towing).

Brentwood Police Department officers had a suspect and victim detained.  Oakley officers determined that S-Carlos Ramirez (45, local resident) had been trimming trees at the Oakley Pena’s trimming trees when another Pena’s employee caught Ramirez using illegal drugs.

Ramirez was fired on the spot and became upset. Ramirez grabbed a chainsaw from his vehicle and chased the victim. The victim called his son to the location and the son got into a physical altercation with Ramirez. All involved parties then went to the Brentwood Pena’s.  Officers arrested Ramirez for assault with a deadly weapon.

Ramirez was booked at the main jail in Martinez. All other actions by the other parties will be documented and further reviewed according to Chief Beard.

No other information was released.
