The Dublin Police Department announced the arrest of San Ramon man in connection with a burglary investigation at Rags and Wigs Shop.

According to police, on November 29, at 2:46 am, police responded to Valley Rags and Wigs Shop, located at 7286 San Ramon Road, for an audible alarm detail. Upon arrival, it was discovered the front glass door was smashed. It appears the suspect was not able to make entry, but there were pry marks visible adjacent to the door frame and lock. During the investigation, Dublin Police were able to identify Robert Butler, 44 of San Ramon as a possible suspect. Butler was found to have a prior history of being arrested for burglary.

Police say that in 2023, Valley Rags and Wigs Shop was burglarized in January where a suspect shattered an exterior glass wall, reached inside and stole approximately $2,300 in merchandise. In September, and twice in November, a suspect smashed the exterior glass door in an attempt to gain access, but was unsuccessful and fled prior to police units arrival. Dublin Police say they believe Butler may be responsible for these prior incidents.

The investigative Team authored an arrest warrant for burglary and vandalism charges on November 30, and subsequently located Butler later in the evening. He was arrested on the warrant and a search was conducted of his residence. Stolen items were recovered from a burglary in a neighboring jurisdiction, including illegal drugs and a few wigs. The owner of Valley Rags and Wigs was unable to identify the wigs recovered from the suspect’s residence as the ones stolen from the shop.

Butler was arrested for charges of burglary, vandalism and possession of stolen property and narcotics. He was booked in Santa Rita Jail, but has currently bailed out of custody.

Information released by Dublin Police.
