1 Dead in Plane Crash in Concord

At 10:30 am Tuesday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a plane crash in the City of Concord.

The plane crashed in the intersection of Concord Avenue at Diamond Blvd in Concord and when crews arrived on scene they reported it was a small plane with one person deceased. The plane did collide with a vehicle.

Law enforcement and firefighters are currently on scene and have the area blocked off as they work the incident.

11:30 am UPDATE

By 11:28 am, Contra Costa Fire provided an Update: Unfortunately one fatality occurred. No other vehicles were involved. The crash is being investigated by the FAA and NTSB. One vehicle was found to be involved in the incident. The driver was transported with minor injuries.

11:40 am: Concord Police announced road closures

Concord Ave between Meridian Park Blvd and 242 is closed, also Diamond Blvd from Burnett to Concord Ave due to a solo occupant plane crash. Please avoid the area.

2:30 pm UPDATE – Statement by Concord PD

This morning at about 10:30 AM, Concord Police Dispatch received 911 calls reporting a plane crash near Concord Avenue and Diamond Blvd. Police officers and Fire/Medical personnel responded and located a small airplane that crashed near the intersection. When the crash occurred, the airplane struck a vehicle on the roadway and the driver of the vehicle sustained a complaint of pain injury and was transported to a local hospital for care.

We are saddened to report the solo occupant of the airplane was determined to be deceased. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are responding to the scene. This event is being investigated by the NTSB.
