On Wednesday, the Antioch Unified School District issued an update on an early morning threat they received which included by Antioch schools and Orchard Park in the city of Oakley.

- 7:25 am – Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard confirmed the Oakley Union Elementary School District has been in contact with them and they are working together on this situation.
- 7:30 am – Mt. Diablo Unified School District Superintendent Adam Clark confirmed they have received a similar message and are working to ensure all staff remain vigilant.
- 7:42 am – Oakley Union Elementary School District Superintendent Jeffrey Palmquist confirmed they received the message.
- 7:44 am – Brentwood Union School District Superintendent Dana Eaton confirmed they also received a similar message.
- 8:04 am – Pittsburg Unified School District Superintendent Janet Schulze confirmed they also received the message
- 9:02 am – Liberty Union High School District Superintendent Eric Volta confirmed they recieved a similar message.

- 1:00 pm – Brentwood Police Department issues formal statement
As of 8:10 am, the Brentwood Union School District said in their message to parents that. In coordination with Brentwood Police Department, they have verified that the threat is not credible.
Message sent out by the AUSD at 7:05 am:
At 6:05, our principals and other district administrators in neighboring districts received a threatening email message that there is a bomb on campus set to detonate at 1 pm, unless we “release all Russian prisoners and captives and persons from all US Jails, prisons and institutions.”
We immediately notified the Antioch Police Department (APD) of the email. Our district administration is in direct contact with the APD commander. In coordination with APD, we are currently verifying the credibility of the threat. Our principals, vice principals, and other staff are on site this morning inspecting our campuses and reviewing surveillance video.
Please know that school safety is our top priority, and we never dismiss any threats to our campuses. We are taking the necessary steps to ensure our students and staff are safe. We will update all families once the school inspections are complete and we have more information. An update is coming soon. Thank you for your patience as we work to keep all of our students and staff safe.
According to the District,
Several of our sites along with neighboring districts have received a terroristic threat. We are taking immediate measures to track down the threat as well as work with the Antioch police department to assess the threat and determine next steps. Although we believe this may be a bogus threat it is always our intent to ensure the safety of all staff and students. There is no need to notify staff or families at this time. We will update you as soon as we have more more information.
The Antioch Police Department said they are aware of a threat made against multiple school districts in our region. Although the threat is not believed to be credible, they are working with its law enforcement partners, including the FBI, and will provide ongoing extra patrols of our schools throughout the day.
7:42 am UPDATE – Oakley School District issues message to parents
Hello, All,
Early this morning, several schools (in Oakley and in other districts, including a college) received a mass-distributed email threatening to detonate a device. No individual school or district was mentioned, and site and district leaders contacted Oakley PD immediately. The threat has not been deemed credible. Site and district leaders and the Oakley PD take issues of safety seriously and will continue to work together. 9:02 am Update – Liberty Union High School District issues Statement
Dear Liberty Union High School Community,
I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred early this morning affecting schools across California, including our local schools within the Liberty Union High School District.
Earlier today, a mass-distributed email threatening to detonate a device was received by hundreds of schools statewide. While no specific school or district was mentioned in the threat, I want to assure you that all Liberty Union school sites and district leaders promptly addressed this issue by contacting local law enforcement, including the Brentwood Police and Oakley Police departments.
I want to emphasize that the threat has been thoroughly assessed, and law enforcement agencies have determined that it is not credible. Despite this, please be assured that the safety and security of our students, staff, and community remain our utmost priority.

11:00 am: Mt Diablo School District Update
This morning, we were notified of an email circulated among several school districts, which includes a threat demanding the release of Russian prisoners. While current evidence suggests that this is likely a hoax, we must remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and security of our schools.
MDUSD principals are monitoring our campuses closely and will report any unusual activities—such as suspicious packages, vehicles, or individuals—to our local police immediately. Although there is no immediate cause for alarm, we advise District staff and community members to stay alert and aware of our school surroundings.

11:25 am: West Contra Costa School District
Dear WCCUSD Community,
We want to update you that all of our school and district sites have completed safety checks. The Contra Costa County Office of Education has confirmed through the Sheriff’s Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that the email threat received this morning was distributed nationwide and has been deemed not credible.
Per our district protocols, we are emphasizing with all sites that the school perimeter is closed and access to campus is restricted to one point of entry until the end of the instructional day. All school activities and after-school programs will continue throughout the day as normal.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Please make sure your contact information is updated in PowerSchool so that we can continue to provide you with timely information. A MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY
Today, the Brentwood Police Department became aware of multiple bomb threats targeting school districts in our city and neighboring areas. After consulting with the FBI, we have confirmed that these threats are not credible and are part of a larger, nationwide distribution.
We recognize the concern and anxiety that such threats can provoke among parents, students, and school staff. In response, we have School Resource Officers present on school sites and increased patrols at our schools. Our priority is to ensure the safety and security of our schools and community members.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and we are committed to taking necessary precautions to protect our children, staff, and schools. My school said it would be an excused absence. I wouldn’t risk it.
The several messages are all the same from the schools. The police departments need to make a statement and about their presence on campus.
