Vehicle Pursuit Nets Danville Armed Robbery Suspect

The Danville Police say a police pursuit Tuesday let to the arrest of an Oakland man in connection with a armed robbery in Danville.

On February 22, 2024, at 9:54 pm, Danville Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a gas station on the 100 block of Hartz Avenue. The victims of the robbery reported that four black male adults wearing hooded sweatshirts and ski masks and robbed them of merchandise for the store. All suspects fled prior to Danville Officers arrival. Through their investigation, Danville Police Department detectives identified a black Chevrolet Blazer as the suspect vehicle in the crime.

On March 5, 2024, at 11:19 am, Lafayette Police Department Officers located a black Chevrolet Blazer on eastbound Highway 24 near Pleasant Hill Road that was wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a business on Hartz Avenue in Danville on February 22, 2024. Lafayette officers pursued the vehicle into the City of Concord with assistance from Concord Police Department. The driver ditched the Blazer and fled the scene in another vehicle, but was apprehended quickly in Concord.

As a result of their investigation, Lafayette officers arrested the driver of the Blazer, Sean Shavers (28, Oakland) for using a vehicle to evade a police officer, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of a high-capacity magazine. Shavers was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on the above charges and is being held on $155,000 bail.
