7 Injured After Vehicle Strikes Tri Delta Bus in Antioch

A vehicle struck a Tri Delta Transit Bus Thursday in the City of Antioch that left multiple people injured.

The crash occurred at 12:30 pm at Laurel and Highway 4 off-ramp but was later confirmed the crash was on Laurel Road in the City of Antioch. Antioch Police Department were also on scene providing traffic control

According to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, there were a total of 8 patients injured and a total of 6 AMR units were requested. It was reported that 6 people sustained minor injuries and 2 people sustained moderate injuries.

According to Battalion Chief James Gallagher confirmed a vehicle struck a Tri Delta Transit bus with 7 individuals injured—mostly senior citizens.

Correction – originally the crash was reported in the City of Oakley, however, the crash was on the border of the City of Antioch on the overpass. The crash was ultimately declared in the City of Antioch.

On the listed date and time, APD officers were dispatched to the above intersection on the report of a traffic collision involving a passenger vehicle and a Tri Delta Transit bus. Upon arrival, officers determined the driver of the passenger vehicle accidentally went through the intersection against a red traffic signal colliding with the rear portion of the bus.

Seven passengers on the bus had complaints of pain and were transported by ambulance to local area hospitals. The driver of the passenger vehicle was also transported to a local area hospital by ambulance for a non-life-threatening injury. Drugs, alcohol, or excessive speed were not factors in the collision
