There are several upcoming Juneteenth Celebrations and events around Contra Costa County.

Juneteenth is a recognition of June 19, 1865, when enslaved Black Americans in Texas were notified of their freedom, two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation


June 15 – Oakley Juneteenth Celebration

The City of Oakley is planning a Juneteenth Celebration in Civic Center Plaza on Saturday, June 15th from 10AM to 1PM. Join in the music, food, and community events that make Juneteenth a day of joy and unity. Let’s come together to highlight and uplift Black voices within our community! Craft vendors, food vendors, and stage performance applications will be accepted for our upcoming Juneteenth Celebration event in April 2024!  If you have any questions, please contact Alicia at [email protected]


June 15 – Grace Arms Presents Juneteenth Celebration (Antioch)

On Saturday, June 15th, Grace will be celebrating Juneteenth. The end of slavery and the beginning of freedom for African- Americans. There will be live entertainment, food, games, jumpers, and Antioch small business vendors at 3415 Oakley Road, Antioch CA 94509. This event is from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and is free and open to all.


June 15 – Pittsburg Juneteenth Celebration

Join the City of Pittsburg and Souljah’s as they host their 13th annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 15th from noon to 5pm at John Buckley Park! The event is family friendly and open to everyone! The event is 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at John Buckley Park (Railroad & 5th St). For more information, click here.


June 16 – Antioch Juneteenth Celebration

Celebrate this Juneteenth with the City of Antioch at the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration happening on Saturday, June 16th at Williamson Ranch Park, where we come together to honor freedom, culture, and community. Join us for a day of reflection that showcases the richness of African American heritage as we embrace the vibrancy and resiliency of Black culture.  This event features live performances, music, food, games, and much more. June 19 – Brentwood Juneteenth Celebration

Join the City of Brentwood for its Juneteenth Celebration in the park on June 19 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at City Park. Featuring musical guest Lenny Williams. Additional performance as well. Live music, food trucks, kid’s activities, craft vendors and educational booths. Hosted by Kevin Brwon “Cuz Kev”. For more information, click here.


June 19 – EBRPD Hosts Free Park Day to Celebrate Juneteenth

Join the East Bay Regional Park District to celebrate Juneteenth on June 19. The Park District is celebrating Juneteenth with a Free Park Day and special naturalist-led programs on Wednesday, June 19, which is a state and federal holiday. All are welcome! Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Join the Park District to celebrate and reflect. June 19 – East County Juneteenth Celebration (Antioch)

Join the 4Ever Me Foundation for its East County Juneteenth Celebration at Paradise Skate in the City of Antioch from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm (1201 W 10th Street). This event will feature food, entertainment, resources and skating.


June 19 – Pleasant Hill Juneteenth

The Pleasant Hill Diversity Commission will host the second annual Juneteenth Celebration. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a celebration marking the end of slavery in the United States. This year’s celebration will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Pleasant Hill City Hall, 100 Gregory Lane.  Partnership with Off the Grid Food trucks from Off the Grid will be present with culturally diverse cuisine for all ages. June 22 – Richmond Juneteenth Parade & Festival
Join the city of Richmond for a vibrant celebration of Juneteenth, a significant day in Black history, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The City of Richmond is excited to host a memorable Juneteenth Parade and Festival on June 22nd, 2024, from 10 am to 6 pm. For more information, click here


June 23 – Concord Juneteenth

Join us on Sunday, June 23rd from 12-4PM for our 2nd Annual Juneteenth celebration, at Concord’s Todos Santos Plaza (Concord). This is a fully coordinated volunteer event, by members of Concord Communities Alliance (CCA), a volunteer-based 501c4 organization*, and community leaders and business owners. Come enjoy a full set of performers, spoken word artists, kid activities, jump with the double dutch team, and Capoeira demonstrations. This year’s educational message is health and wellness in the Black community; stop by our wellness village for Reiki or a massage, and visit local nonprofits. Get delicious food from food trucks, seafood, jambalaya, soulfood! Or you can have a tea party on your blanket with treats from Hen & Drake.


June 29 – Martinez Juneteenth Celebration

Join the City of Martinez from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for its 2nd annual Juneteenth Celebration at 245 N Court Street.. There will be food, family activities, music, performances, incredible speakers, vendors and more! They will have performances from Nicole and Buttah’s Jook Joint, the amazing Mail Fete troop, DJ Outra Pocket, and featured Speakers Pastor Ray Montgomery, Ricky Godfrey, Nakenya Allen and Sevgi Fernandez! They will have food from Loretta’s Food truck, Kona Ice will be there with shaved ice to cool us off and we will have face painting and fun activities for the kiddos!
