Sutter County DA: It is Not illegal to Teach Drunk

The Sutter County District Attorney says a second-grade teacher who was arrested for a DUI and child endangerment will not face any charges.

According to a statement from the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office:”

After a lengthy and thorough investigation, the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office has determined that no charges will be filed against Wendy Munson, the second-grade teacher at Nuestro School who was arrested on October 2, 2023.

Munson, 57 years old, was arrested for DUI and child endangerment. During the investigation, it could not be established that Munson was under the influence when she drove to the school, as opposed to drinking only after arriving there. Additionally, the requirements for child endangerment cannot be met, as there was no specific information indicating that the children in Munson’s class were placed in a position where their persons or health were endangered. The mere potential that a situation could arise is insufficient to meet the requirements under the law. While the District Attorney’s Office agrees that it is highly inappropriate to teach while intoxicated, it is, unfortunately, not illegal.

The District Attorney’s position regarding criminal charges does not impact any decisions or discipline to be made by Superintendent Bal Dhillon or the Nuestro School District regarding the employment status of Munson.

You can’t blame the teacher. Kids are bad behaved and their parents have HORRIBLE kid discipline. You can’t possibly survive being sober with snotty kids and their “KAREN” like parents.
