At a time when it is crucial to improve community relationships, the Brentwood Police Department has expanded its capabilities in its community engagement efforts by launching SPIDR Tech platform.

The platform enables the police department to send fully automated follow-up messages via text or email to victims of crimes as well as reporting parties. Callers should expect to receive messages starting December 1st.

The goal for launching this software is to enhance communication with our community by giving callers and victims updates to their calls for service. Once a call has been generated from Dispatch, callers can expect to receive updates acknowledging their call and if there are any delays.

After the call has concluded, the caller will receive a message containing the incident number as well as a short survey. The survey will ask questions regarding the performance of the dispatcher and officer, as well as their overall satisfaction. The platform will also send a follow up notification to crime victims with the case number and links to additional resources and information to assist them.

As part of BPD’s commitment to safety, public trust, and communication, the software is meant to close the communication gap and offer callers an opportunity to provide feedback on their interaction with the Police Department.

Chief Tim Herbert said, “Transparency is essential, and this is a step in the right direction.”
