Oakley Police

At 1:09 PM Thursday the Oakley Police Department responded to the area of Brown Road and Neroly Avenue in the City of Oakley for a report of two shots being fired, possibly from vehicles.

Due to the close proximity to Freedom High School and Almond Grove Elementary School we called those respective schools and has them go into a lockdown until we could determine it was safe.

Officers flooded the area with officers and detectives but were able to determine within a few minutes the shots were not coming from a school campus and the schools did not seem to be a target.

Police are looking into an altercation that happened at Freedom High School just prior to the shots being heard. Right now there is no direct connection between the altercation and the shots.

Police said they have lifted the lockdown and we are continuing our investigation in order to ascertain what happened. As of right now we are unaware of any victims.

If anybody has any information related to this incident please call the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060
