Pittsburg Police Say 15-Year-Old Shot and Killed

At 3:04 pm Thursday, the Pittsburg Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Suzanne Drive off of Buchanan Road in the City of Pittsburg.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and AMR responded to the scene with a subject confirmed wounded and down on the ground. A medical helicopter was requested and was going to land at Highlands Elementary School.

The subject was shot and unresponsive, however, was still breathing per Pittsburg Police.

A short-time later, the medical helicopter was cancelled due and the patient was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital along with two firefighter to assist in patient care. The status of the gunshot victim is unknown at this time.

Update:
Per Pittsburg Police, this is now a fatal shooting and no additional details have been released. Those involved are believed to have been juveniles.

Update 2 NEWS RELEASE – PITTSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT FATAL SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

On December 29, 2022 at 3:04 pm, Pittsburg Police officers responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Suzanne Drive after several callers reported a subject had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old male had been shot. Officers rendered first aid until paramedics arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, and unfortunately did not survive.

Officers located numerous witnesses who have been interviewed by Detectives in an attempt to determine what happened. Through the investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile was found to be responsible for the shooting. He was arrested and booked on a involuntary manslaughter charge and transported to Juvenile Hall.

Detectives are still following up with witnesses to determine a reason for the shooting and whether this was an intentional act.
